Powell endorses Obama

In a move that should only surprise those who don't pay attention, Colin Powell has endorsed Barack Obama for President. This is unlikely to sway a large number of voters, but it is sure to be a major news story the next few days.
He said he had watched both Obama and his Republican opponent, Sen. John McCain of Arizona, for many months and thought “either one of them would be a good president.”

But he said McCain’s choices in the last few weeks — especially his selection of Gov. Sarah Palin of Alaska as his vice presidential running mate — had raised questions in his mind about McCain’s judgment.
The other point worth mentioning is that this likely confirms that Powell has no interest in running for President himself in the future. If he had, he would have looked to avoid alienating other Republicans. Then again, if some of the stories told about his time on the Bush cabinet at true, he may feel they have already alienated him.

Dodd endorses Obama

It is not a shock that another major Democratic candidate is endorsing Barack Obama. What is surprising is that as close a Clinton ally as Christopher Dodd is about to do so. And it appears he plans on more than an endorsement, but active campaigning for the Illinois Senator.
It's unclear what Dodd's task will be with the campaign or whether he'll be hitting those last two New England states still awaiting primaries next week. But if Obama eventually gets the nomination, Connecticut's two senators will be in opposing campaigns. Sen. Joseph I. Lieberman is one of Republican Sen. John McCain's staunchest allies.
Of course, what is most likely going on here is a carefully orchestrated signal from Centrist Democrats to Senator Clinton that it may be time to wave the white flag and drop out. How long until someone does so in a more clear and public way?

Dobson endorses Huckabee

The story here. I have to wonder if this a true "endorsement" or merely Dobson trying to find ANY way to stop McCain. I strongly believe it is the latter.

Kerry endorses Obama

Not sure how happy Obama will be with this. Is the endorsement of last cycle's big loser really all that valuable? Still, an endorsement is an endorsement when you are in a tough battle. And if it leads other folks to also endorse you (like perhaps VP Al Gore) then it may make a bigger difference.

Then again, if John Kerry is endorsing you, can you really say you are "the candidate of change?"

Giuliani Endorsed By Pat Robertson

Pat Robertson has officially endorsed Rudy Giuliani. While this doesn't change my vote (not a huge fan of Pat Robertson), I suspect it will for some. I'm actually surprised that Pat Robertson has endorsed him. On the other hand, Rudy Giuliani could take some heat because of Robertson's past comments.
