Sheenan v. Pelosi ugh!

Cindy Sheehan has announced that she's going to run against Nancy Pelosi in her next election if Pelosi doesn't start impeachment hearings on Bush. About the only smart thing Pelosi has done since becoming speaker is to not start impeachment proceedings. I'm sure part of it is that she knows she doesn't have the votes for it and to some degree understands that it's an unreasonable thing to do. Sheehan on the other hand seems to still be under the impression that people care about her and what she has to say. I'm sure nobody in the Pelosi camp is taking this seriously, though I can imagine some republicans seeing Sheehan taking away some of Pelosi's votes and making a republican win more likely than it previously was. I doubt that Sheehan would take that many votes from Pelosi, but third party candidates with an issue can be hurtful to the main stream candidate. Honestly I don't think anything will come of this, but it is comical to see the libs get mad at each other for not being liberal enough.

Cindy Sheehan says "No Mas"

After many years being the face of the Anti-War fringe, Cindy Sheehan has decided to bow out of her quest to end the Iraq War and impeach GWB.

This is my resignation letter as the "face" of the American anti-war movement. This is not my "Checkers" moment, because I will never give up trying to help people in the world who are harmed by the empire of the good old US of A, but I am finished working in, or outside of this system. This system forcefully resists being helped and eats up the people who try to help it. I am getting out before it totally consumes me or anymore people that I love and the rest of my resources.

Good-bye America ...you are not the country that I love and I finally realized no matter how much I sacrifice, I can’t make you be that country unless you want it.

I can't say that I will miss Cindy Sheehan. She never brought any kind of rational argument to the debate, and merely served to distract from any real discussion of the issues. However, I wish her well in her attempt to restore her life to some semblance of normalcy.
