$99 iPhones at Wal-Mart?
As a power user of the iPhone, I found my 1st generation device with 8GB of memory was quickly filled to capacity with songs and videos. I still struggle sometimes to manage the content on my iPhone 3G with its relatively robust 16 GB of memory. But I know a few people who bought 4 GB iPhone when they were out there, and are plenty happy with their devices to this day.
Now, rumors are out there that Wal-Mart is preparing to sell 4 GB iPhone 3G devices starting December 28. As an Apple shareholder, this gets me very excited as it brings the iPhone into the range of a whole new class of buyer, who may be flush with store credit from returning presents. This may be Apple's attempt toward an "iPhone Nano" or "iPhone Shuffle".
The question is, would a shopper who balks at a $199 iPhone, be willing to commit to $80 a month for data and voice? Or will this phone also be on a pay-as-you-go or cheaper voice-only plan?

Asus EeePC at Target for $299.99
I mentioned on Twitter yesterday that there were reports of the Asus Eeepc Netbook at BestBuy for $299, and a lot of Mod-Bloggers seemed interested. So, I thought they'd be interested to hear that we saw it today at Target for the same price. Might be a good inexpensive laptop for light use.

Cheap Cars to Drive
Two years ago, when I bought a new car, I decided to go for a fuel-efficient vehicle which would give me few problems, rather than the most feature-packed model out there. It has worked out well for me with the spike in gas prices. And more and more it has been validated, as with this Consumerist article that rates the top 10 cheapest cars to drive. My Vibe came in #7.
10. Suzuki SX4
9. Kia Rio
8. Toyota Corolla
7. Pontiac Vibe
6. Scion xB
5. Nissan Versa
4. Toyota Yaris
3. Hyundai Accent
2. Chevrolet Aveo
1. Honda Fit

One More Techie Post for the Day
OK, I admit to being in a techie zone right now - probably the Bluetooth Headset got me back into this mood - but I wanted to share one more cool device. Zonbu is offering a $99 PC (not laptop) which offers a Linux distro that claims to be "as easy to use as a Mac", an Office suite, Multimedia applciations, and more. They offer $12.95/month service as well which automatically backs up all of your data over the internet in case of a hardware failure and will replace your unit free of charge if it fails within 3 years of purchase.
Very cool, although exceedingly lightweight. Might be useful for getting a new PC for grandma to do e-mail on, or for the computer-phobic. I could also easily see this being popular in Libraries where you want to offer internet to the masses, without paying a lot or using a lot of energy. Or if you have young children that you want to allow to surf and do homework, but want to ensure that there is NO chance of a virus slipping thru.
