It makes you wonder how long until the market for these things collapses. I know LOTS of people who suffer thru cold calls from people SELLING Yellow Pages. I know almost no one who still USES the Yellow Pages, when there are superior tools like Yelp and Google Maps online.
I actually needed to use the yellow pages. When we first moved to our new town I knew nothing about the area and needed a lot of work done to the house. Every time I would use the internet, it would advise me to use somebody that was not local. So I found them to be very handy. There are too many types published in our area. We have a few different books like the tri-state book, the PA book, the pike county book....that is annoying and wasteful.
For commercial contractors, you get very few good leads from the phone book. We were going to cancel our small ad this year, but they suggested we try it for a year with a phone number that they can track how many people use it. We had like 2 calls in 3 months. And there was no guarantee that we got a job out of it.
Crchair - I don't think the Yellow Pages are as effective for business to business needs. They actually make a special version for business to business use.
They'd stop printing them if people would stop buying ads in them. My understanding is that the yellow pages are all about selling ads.

YanıtlaSilI use them to look up businesses because you can get more info about individual businesses there than on line.
