Kerry Accepts Election... Sorta... Kinda...

Presidential election loser John Kerry has magnanimously accepted the results of the election again. Well, sorta. Kinda. Not really.

The Massachusetts Democrat, Bush's challenger in the November presidential election, spoke at Boston's annual Martin Luther King Day Breakfast. He reiterated that he decided not to challenge the election results, but "thousands of people were suppressed in the effort to vote."..."Voting machines were distributed in uneven ways. In Democratic districts, it took people four, five, eleven hours to vote, while Republicans (went) through in 10 minutes -- same voting machines, same process, our America," he said.

So, basically, he admits that Bush won the election fair and square, but denies that he can be blamed for the loss. Bush won because he had the majority, but Kerry lost because of voting irregularities. Talk about plausible deniability. And rationalization.

Either this man must have a high tolerance for pain or getting a four inch nail through your skull hurts less than I would imagine. Apparantly the toothache and blurry vision wasn't enough to get him to get it checked out until ice and pain killers weren't working SIX DAYS LATER.

Mac Mini outsells iMac record in 7 days

Madsenblog reports that the Mac Mini has sold more units in 7 days than any previous iMac model sold in a month. If so, it makes it the best selling computer of all time by a large margin. Of course, none of this is official yet. But it may validate the strategy of a bargain-basement Mac... if it's being bought by switchers and not Apple fanatics who would have bought a more expensive computer instead.

New Additions (and Recommendations) to the Blogroll

As I'm sure you've noticed, the blogroll has been growing again. Here are some of the newer additions. I guess it's only fair that I at least offer some introduction so you know what you're getting yourself into:



American Lady is the home of a young blogger who has recently set production back to once a week postings. But they're worth catching, even if only once a week.



American Regression is a site by a somewhat annoyed liberal. He tends to be a thinking liberal, so it's worth a read.



Democracy of the Dead is a new, and really good, site up dealing primarily with the Catholic issues. They write well and give good insight.



Free Iraqi is the blog of Ali, formerly from Iraq the Model. He continues with the same excellent material that he and his brothers gave us at his former site.



Blogicus gets mentioned just because he links here fairly often. But seriously, he's got a good site that's updated all the time and he's a daily read.



Young Pundit is another fairly new site with a good writer. Another daily read for me.



The New Democrat is a lone voice of reason within the Democratic party. If only there were more like him. Proof that he's effective already? He's had more hate messages in his comment section from "open-minded reality based community members" then he has from conservatives.

Morris on '08

Dick Morris is a smart man. He's done some things that make me question how good a human being he is from time to time, but he's very smart when it comes to politics. Therefore, I suggest that you head over to RWN's brief interview with him and see his thoughts about 2008. I'm not sure I agree that Hillary is really that unbeatable. But, he did work with the Clintons and he's rarely been wrong in the political sphere. It will be interesting to see if his thoughts become the dominant consensus as 2008 approaches.

Thoughts on Why Newt Shouldn't Run

LaShawn Barber echoes my own thoughts on why Newt shouldn't run in 2008 or any year. He deserves credit for the work he did. Let's face it, the now 10+ year surge in Republican dominance was ushered in by his work. He's a hero to the Republican cause. But, as LaShawn points out, he's got a horrible sense of moral clarity and it would be beyond mere hypocrisy for the party that tried to run President Clinton out of office for his moral conduct to put Newt up for the Presidency. And some people will argue semantics. You can claim that it was because Clinton lied that he was impeached. I agree.



But the hunt started because the cultural conservatives were convinced that he was just short of Satan himself in wickedness. It was Clinton's moral failures that made him so hated by the right. And to now run a man with equally questionable moral judgment would reflect poor moral judgment on the conservatives. And even worse, it would reflect a willingness to do anything if they thought they could win.

I've said many times over the past couple of years that it seems that there's a magazine for everything now. But until recently, I was wrong. I now claim definitively, that there is, indeed, a magazine for everything.
