The VP Debate

I suppose that one's perspective on the debate will be shaped by your views in general. That's the only way to explain how anyone could see Edwards as having won last night. Andrew Sullivan is practically falling all over himself over Edwards but he and the Dumbacratic Underground crew seem to be about the only ones (Although, Andrew is now so completely anti-Bush that he well could be a DU member.) I can't see how last night can be seen as anything less then Cheney absolutely spanking Edwards like the little kid he seemed. Don't get me wrong, Edwards spoke well and he was slick. But his substance was almost non-existent. Cheney was in command the whole time and slipped in some really good shots that Edwards just couldn't match. Hopefully, this will show that it's time to put junior to bed and let the politicians do their job.

Cheney nailed Edwards on fallacies concerning Halliburton, he absolutely destroyed Edwards for his shameful exclusion of Iraqis as allies, he blasted Kerry for his condemnation of the coalition -- making a great point about how much Kerry's attitude will hurt, rather than help, our chances of international dialogs. And, he swatted away Edwards' only actual "claim", namely the claims about Halliburton.

Interestingly, Cheney's one big gaff was that he mispoke the site FactCheck.org and accidentaly gave the site FackCheck.com instead. Oddly enough, just hours after the debate, the .com site was bought up and set to redirect users to the site of none other than George Suromon...Er I mean that guy who hates conservatives. I actually think this is a good thing. I can't wait for millions of Americans to visit his site and see just how big a nutjob the man actually is.

I can't see much to be redeemed from the debate for the Democrats last night. I'm sure they will spin it as they wish, but they lost handily and proved why John Edwards isn't even a good politician, let alone a good VP choice.

More "Team America" Stuff. Ward Owes Me More

FoxNews has up their own review of Team America: World Police, which is summed up in one phrase, "Try to imagine, if you will, a movie that in its first few minutes offends just about everyone who's watching it."

Top Ten Questions That Should Be Asked at the Veep Debate, But Won't Be

10. If you could pass one Constitutional Amendment during the next 4 years, would it be: a. Banning Same-Sex Marriage, 2. Legalizing Drugs, or III. Forbidding the use of Vietnam in Presidential Campaign Commercials?

9. What role do you believe hair or lack thereof plays in a successful vice president?

8. Do you feel the vice presidential debate has any effect on the way the average American votes? Okay, I guess "average American" is a bad way to put it with a voter turnout below 50%.

7. What is the proper way to pronounce "VP"? Rhymes with "Jeep", rhymes with "E.T.", or rhymes with "Most useless office in the land."

6. Do you believe Haliburton or Greedy Trial Lawyers are a bigger threat to American Democracy?

5. If you were one of the Three Bears from the Goldilocks story, how would you characterize the Bush Tax Cuts? Too Hot, Too Cold, or A-Complex-Issue-Requiring-Further-Inquiry-Before-Making-A-Final-Decision-Though-This-Is-The-Worst-Economy-Since-Hoover-And-I-Can-Do-Better?

4. If Mr. Edwards is right that there are "two Americas," then how many Canadas are there? What about France?

3. What message do you have for the Youth of America tonight? Please be sure to start each sentence with "Dude."

2. Where would the "undisclosed location" be if your candidate wins the election? Bermuda, the Iron Mountain, or Room 303 at the Comfort Inn?

1. What is John Kerry's position on Iraq? Answers will be restricted to an hour response, and each respondent can only use the phrase "on the other hand" 50 times.

The Military Vote

If it's good enough for the men and women on the ground, then it's good enough for me. Those serving in the military still support President Bush by a large margin. If they've been through what they have been and seen what they've seen and still believe that the President is the better choice, then that sends a pretty strong signal. These are the people who we are being told are taking the brunt of every mistake this administration makes. According to Michael Moore, these are the people who are the poor and desperate, being used by rich white guys. Yet, they support President Bush. That says more than any fake documentary can.

Lunatic Left Watch

Sigh...If it's not the draft scare than it's some type of apocolyptic scenario. The lunatic left must just be really, truly terrified of this election. Now there's another "annonymous source" predicting the end of the world if President Bush is relected. You have to watch a ten second commercial to get into the the site but it's worth it just to get a sense of how unhinged these people have become. It's truly pathetic. And really, how many people in the administration can there be with this kind of access who are so blatently opposed to anything that the administration does? It seems kind of odd that the left trots out this continual parade of "insiders" who somehow all manage to hate the President. Is there anyone in the White House who isn't a double agent for the left? And guess where I found the story linked from? None other than DU...What a surprise!

Now Bremer

Paul Bremer said during a speech yesterday that he believes we did not have enough troops in Iraq. It's odd to hear the civilian administrator come out and make this claim. Of course, the left is already jumping all over it to show how incompetent the administration is. But it doesn't change the fact that the commanders on the ground are in charge of requesting more troops and according to Tommy Franks, they didn't feel that they needed more men. Not having been there and not knowing enough about military tactics, I will take the word of the military men on the ground until it's proven that they were wrong.

Coulter Quotes

Right Wing News has done the legwork and compiled a list of quotes from Ann Coulter from the past year. I'm not the biggest fan, but a fair number of the statements are right on the mark.
