The NYT: Hoping For American Defeat
Christopher Hitchens does us a service and tears apart the NYT's obsession with "Iraq is Vietnam" language. Anyone with a couple of high school history classes can see the vast ocean of difference. But the left knows that Vietnam still leaves a bad taste in the mouths of Americans. So, what better way to discredit a war that they don't like then to compare it to the military's biggest debacle in history?
Kofi and the Stupid Brigade
The UN (the ONLY body with moral authority to act in world matters) has concluded that there has been no genocide in the Darfur region. Remember folks, tens of thousands of deaths don't qualify for the prize according to the UN. It makes one wonder if they would have even blinked at the Holocaust? What kind of suffering needs to take place to justify world action? Apparently, the UN can now officially only act in order to save rogue nations run by mass-murdering dictators.
New Poll
Okay okay, a new poll is now up. The winner of the previous poll was the velociraptor. It truly ate up the competition. So we'll see if there are any high level Democratic operatives checking out the site and if they take our advice. I think it could be a good move for them. Anyway, have fun with the new poll.
Nepal's King Takes Over
Nepal's current king, King Gyanendra, took over the throne in 2001 and has been, according to him, trying to place a democracy in Nepal. The only problem is that he is very hands on and has gotten rid of yet another premier and assumed full control. His reasoning is that he is trying to crush the communist Maoist rebels who have been committing terrorist acts around the country. They are trying to mimic the Shining Path in Peru.
When the king is talking about his plans it sounds like he is just trying to lead his country to democracy. When I start reading other parts of the article it appears that the king's version of democracy is one that he can step in at any time to "help".

Howard Dean Draws Closer to DNC Chairman
That's right. Put on your tin-foil hats and let out a primal scream. Howard Dean has collected another round of endorsements and looks poised to win the Democratic National Committee Chairmanship.
Howard Dean won the backing of state Democratic Party leaders Monday, putting him in a strong position to win the chairmanship of the Democratic National Committee..."If all of our members vote for him, that will be half of what he needs to win the chairman's job," said Mark Brewer, chairman of the Association of State Democratic Chairs...The party's presidential front-runner in 2003 won 56 votes from the state chairs and Democratic activist Donnie Fowler won 21 during a national conference call. The state chairs ignored a recommendation made Sunday by the executive committee to back Fowler. Other candidates' support Monday was in single digits.Howard Dean appears to have one great talent - sniffing out a leadership vacuum and stepping into it. His run for the presidency went so far, simply because a credible Democratic alternative could not be found. Now, this run lasts because there is no real alternative. Of course, it also means that Mr. Scream will have 4 years to remake the party in his image... giving the GOP lots of reasons to smile.
iPod Shuffle coming to Wal-Mart
In a move sure to spike sales of the new iPod Shuffle, it appears Wal-Mart will be selling the Apple-based Mp3 player. This can only be good for my shares of stock in both companies. The iPod Shuffle is likely to be a must-have for teens who can't afford the adult version, and is even likely to woo iPod owners looking for a good second device to bring jogging. I don't know if this will really let Apple rule the world, but it sure can not hurt their personal war for market-share.
